Silver Ferns Team Unchanged to Play England

National Selectors have named an unchanged Silver Ferns team to compete against England in the two-test New World Netball Series for the Taini Jamison Trophy at the end of October.

Laura Langman will lead the side in the absence of captain Casey Kopua, with Katrina Grant named in the vice-captain role. The first test match against England is on Tuesday October 28 at Rotorua’s Energy Events Centre with the second and final test match on Friday October 31 at Arena Manawatu in Palmerston North.

Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu says the final two test matches against England will also be hard fought games.

“England are coming off the back of very strong form at the Commonwealth games and we are looking forward to a tight contest in this series” she said.

“So while our key focus is to win, we also need to continue to develop depth and grow combinations right throughout the court,” Taumaunu said.

The New World Netball Series for the Taini Jamison trophy in Palmerston North will wrap up the international test season for the Silver Ferns for 2014, after a busy season which started with a tour of the UK back in January.

The Silver Ferns team is:

A ‘New Zealand A’ team has also been named to contest England when they arrive after their tour of Australia later this month.

The NZ A team is: And the NZ Under 21 tier of the National Development Squad is: Emerging Talent selectors will look to add another eight players to the National Development Squad U21 by the middle of 2015, based on merit and performance.
