Indoor Cricket World Cup kicks off this weekend

Hutt Indoor Sports Centre at Hutt Park is set to host around 350 players from seven countries for the 2014 Indoor Cricket World Cup.

The tournament, which is held every three years, will run from Sunday 19-Saturday 25 October 2014, featuring over 100 games between seven countries - Australia, England, India, South Africa, Singapore, Wales and New Zealand.

Mayor Ray Wallace said, “It’s great to host an international tournament in Hutt City.

“We have a lot of fantastic recreational facilities, which we are pleased to share.

“Good luck to all the teams, particularly the New Zealand men’s, which I’m proud to say is captained by Hutt local Leigh Kelly.”

Indoor Cricket World Cup teams will compete across four divisions; men’s, women’s, boys under 20s and girls under 20s.

Wednesday will feature a trans-Tasman clash where all twenty games will be played between New Zealand and Australia.
