The Doqument Announce Album Release & Party
Bringing together four of New Zealand’s next generation of prolific talents under the single banner of straight-up hip-hop, Auckland-based group The Doqument return with the release of their sophomore album Blank Canvas – Wall & Piece.
Available for a pay-as-you-please rate from bandcamp from 23 October 2014, the new release showcases world-class lyrical ability layered confidently on supreme nostalgic beats and collaborations with bona fide rappers such as David Dallas andPNC.
A collector’s edition physical album will be available with ticket purchase to their Album Release party at Auckland’s Access Nightclub on Thursday 23 October. Tickets are strictly limited and available for purchase now from dashtickets.co.nz.
The release party will feature a live performance by The Doqument + special guests, and DJ’s P-Money, DJ Sirvere, Scizzorhands and Mac Major.
Consisting of $ikeOne (MC), imaGe (MC), Shaqles (Producer/MC), and Mac Major(DJ), the four-part team have been turning heads for both their solo and group outputs.
Alongside capturing the attention of David Dallas and PNC, between them they have also gained the endorsement of huge artists such as US rapper KRS One("Thank you for being Hip-hop” is what he told MC $ikeOne), performed alongsideBone Thugs n Harmony and Freddie Gibbs and released their debut LP The Rookie Album.
Rising up the ranks as New Zealand’s newfound hip-hop visionaries, The Doqument’s authenticity stems from a hustle and hard-work ethic that has set them apart from many rap groups, maintaining creative control and acting as their own production team – from producing and mastering their own music, to filming and editing their videos.
Check out their video for ‘Legacy’ ft David Dallas here and ‘Avant Garde’ ft PNChere.
Blank Canvas – Wall & Piece is available online from bandcamp from Thursday 23 October. Tickets for the album release show at Access Bar, K Rd are available now for $10 from dashtickets.co.nz and include a physical copy of the album.
