Heritage Pecha Kucha Back by Popular Demand
Heritage Pecha Kucha Back by Popular Demand
After last
year’s sell-out Pecha Kucha night at Toitu Otago
Settler’s Museum a second Heritage-themed event returns to
Toitu, Tuesday 14 October, 7.30 pm. Dunedin’s 23rd Pecha
Kucha night has a focus on the city’s warehouse precinct
ahead of Dunedin City Council’s Vogel Street Party event
on Saturday 18 October.
Presented in partnership with
Heritage New Zealand and supported by the Dunedin City
Council, the event will see 12 presenters show images and
tell stories from vastly different heritage perspectives.
Presenters have just 20 seconds to speak to each of their
own 20 images, delivering a fast-paced, inspiring and
informative talk supported by amazing visuals and unique
stories.
Pecha Kucha #23 includes presenters as
diverse as Bill Dacker (Parihaka prisoner stonework), Alison
Breese (underground toilets of Dunedin), Dr Ian Chapman (The
Empire Hotel and Dunedin sound) and Professor Kevin Clements
(conscientious objectors).
Pecha Kucha Night events
were devised by Klein Dytham Architecture in Tokyo and are
now held in over 600 cities around the world. Dunedin Pecha
Kucha events are produced by the Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust
in partnership with a range of organisations.
