Kiwis in Action This Weekend Around the World

Kiwis in Action This Weekend Around the World

While the triathlon season is coming to an end in Europe there are still Kiwis in action this weekend at the ITU Alanya World Cup in Turkey and in the French Grand Prix in Nice while attention falls on Malaysia for the long distance athletes and the irrepressible Cameron Brown.

Alanya is where most of the attention will focus for the New Zealanders with Simone Ackerman, Rebecca Clarke, Sophie Corbidge, Anneke Jenkins and Sam Ward lining up, the women on Saturday and men on Sunday (race times will be late evening in New Zealand).

Jenkins is carrying good form into the event following her podium finish in a European Cup event in Madrid last weekend, her silver medal a great reward as the former swimmer continues to find her way in her new sport of triathlon.

The race for Ward is another chance for the 19 year old to gain further experience in what is a strong men’s field. The young Aucklander has made good progress this season and can reflect on a podium at the Banyoles European Cup race – incredibly his first attempt at the standard distance. Ward is a member of the Tri NZ HP Development Squad.

Meanwhile in France Tony Dodds and Ryan Sissons are amongst the field racing in Nice at the latest French Grand Prix race. Athletes race over short distance events, representing their club teams and accruing points throughout the season.

Elsewhere a host of New Zealanders including Cameron Brown and Dylan McNeice will race in the elite category at Ironman Malaysia this weekend. For a link to the race preview, CLICK HERE
