The Outsider Art Fair – one of the rarest exhibitions on the planet.
The Outsider Art Fair, and place for everyone to see, experience and buy artwork that only those in the know have until
now been able to get their hands on.
The Britomart Precinct becomes one of the rarest exhibitions on the planet. Featuring a collection of fantastic artworks
and artists that until now have never been collected in the same place at the same time. The Outsider Art Fair is for
art enthusiasts, buyers, artists and galleries. But wait there's more .... hear some of New Zealand's leading experts on
Outsider Art talk about this phenomenon and what it means in a New Zealand context, be part of the Live Art experience,
and join some of New Zealand's leading designers who are taking part in the Fair as pop up galleries around the
Britomart Precinct. And if you're interested in buying art then this really is the place to come.
Modeled loosely on the globally renowned New York Outsider Art Fair, the event offers an opportunity for New Zealand’s
diverse community of innovative thinkers, inspirational speakers, and creative minds to come together to shed light on
this growing phenomenon.
The main event will be held at the Nathan Club, Britomart, Auckland with a launch of the Fair happening on the Friday
evening from 6pm till 10pm offering a preview of the exhibition and first opportunity to buy for those lucky enough to
get in early. (Numbers are limited). On Saturday the event opens fully to the public with all exhibitions, discussions
and presentations free for the public. The Nathan Club where the main exhibitions, discussion and presentations occur
will be open from 10am till 5pm each day.
Design stores situated in the Britomart Precinct will feature Pop up exhibitions and the square will feature live art
and performance.
The Outsider Art Fair has been initiated by Toi Ora Live Art Trust, an award winning art organisation, providing
innovation and leadership in the field of creativity and mental wellbeing since 1995. One of New Zealand’s leading minds
in Outsider Art Stuart Shepherd has been brought on board to lead the curation of the visual exhibition element and
provide his vast experience having represented artists at the New York Outsider Art Fair for many years.
The event is already shaping up to be a memory maker and debut what the team hope will become a landmark on the
International Outsider Art Event calendar.
