Miss Universe New Zealand 2014 to be live-streamed online to global audiences
Auckland, September 15 Miss Universe New Zealand, the only beauty competition in the country to be broadcast on television, will live-stream
the 2014 Grand Final from Sky City Theatre in Auckland on the evening (NZST) of Thursday, September 18, in addition to
its domestic television broadcasts.
The HD stream will be hosted at nextmissnz.com, and will also be carried at the Lucire website (lucire.com), Livestream (livestream.com) and Virtual Ticket (virtualticket.co.nz) from 7.30 p.m. NZST (0730 GMT, 0330 US EDT, 0830 BST), and will feature live performances from stage sensations Lavina
Williams (Hairspray), Russell Dixon (Alberto Beddini in the Olivier Award-winning production of Top Hat), international singer Michelle Varte, and, getting back together for one night only, TrueBliss.
The gala Grand Final, judged by Colin Mathura-Jeffree, Megan Alatini, Jo Holley, Stephanie Charles, Emma McLachlan and
special guest judge Chalita Yaemwannang, Miss Universe Thailand 2013, will see the 25 finalists vie to succeed Holly
Michelle Cassidy, Miss Universe New Zealand 2013, who hands over her crown on the night. In the audience will be His
Excellency Noppadon Theppitak, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand. Miss Universe New Zealand executive director Nigel
Godfrey will host the event with Lucy Gallaugher, who returns from the 2013 live telecast.
Miss Universe New Zealand once again partners with Variety, the Children’s Charity, continuing the successful
partnership established last year.
‘Live-streaming on the internet is very exciting for us,’ says Mr Godfrey. ‘Last year, we turned around the Miss
Universe New Zealand brand by returning the competition to national, live television. This year, we go one step further
by taking it to a global audience.’
‘We will realize the international interest we have had in Miss Universe New Zealand with the web stream,’ says Miss
Universe New Zealand general counsel Jack Yan. ‘We know first-hand that the global audience is massive from Lucire’s stories covering this industry, and we’ll share New Zealand’s premier beauty competition on Thursday with them.’
The evening’s programme can be downloaded in advance from nextmissnz.com, as a PDF, and features the event’s full family of sponsors, including platinum sponsors Antique & Modern Jewellery, Golden Gowns, Jewels by Aqua, Jucy Group, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The live HD stream will be hosted at nextmissnz.com, lucire.com, livestream.com and virtualticket.co.nz from Thursday, September 18 at 7.30 p.m. NZST (0730 GMT, 0330 US EDT, 0830 BST).
