NEW ‘Triple Crown’ Enhances NZB Filly Series
The New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series receives an added boost this season with the introduction of the Wellfield Stud Triple Crown.
Bill Gleeson’s Wellfield Stud is offering a $100,000 bonus to any three-year-old filly that can win the Group 3 Eulogy
Stakes at Awapuni, the Group 3 Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham and the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks also at Trentham.
All three races in the Triple Crown are part of New Zealand Bloodstock’s 10-race Filly of the Year Series.
Points will be awarded in each leg of the Triple Crown and, at the culmination of the Series, the connections of the
leading filly will receive a service to Alamosa and the second placed filly will receive a service to Road to Rock, both
Wellfield Stud stallions. See tables below for points structure.
“Bill and his team at Wellfield Stud have shown great innovation and a commitment to enhancing opportunities for fillies
through this sponsorship and NZB is delighted to have them be a part of the Filly of the Year Series,” commented New
Zealand Bloodstock’s Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela.
New Zealand Bloodstock’s Filly of the Year Series has already had an upgrade this season with the Listed Soliloquy
Stakes at Ellerslie in September replaced by the Group 3 Sunline Vase, also run at Ellerslie but held in March. All 10
races in the Series are now all Group races.
The first race of the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series is this weekend with the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes
run at Hastings on Saturday (20 September).
