Shihad To Rock Christchurch And Pay Per-View TV

Kiwi rockers, Shihad, will make New Zealand music history tonight with a broadcast event of epic proportions.

Presented by Resene, the paint professionals use, the iconic Kiwi band will rock Christchurch in a good way when they perform an exclusive one-off show Shihad Live at Horncastle Arena. The city is buzzing with excitement.

The band, consisting of Jon Toogood, Karl Kippenberger, Tom Larkin and Phil Knight, are looking forward to unleashing their epic sound while creating history with New Zealand's first ever live pay-per-view concert. “I cannot wait to play the new stuff and in one of our favourite cities. It’s gonna be explosive!” says Shihad frontman, Jon Toogood.

Entry to the concert was open to all Kiwis with just over 3,500 tickets given away via a facebook lottery draw and to partners.

This event has only been possible through the support of partners such as Resene, Grab a seat, Hauraki, Warners, Jucy Rentals and parent company SKY Television.

For those who missed out on tickets, SKY TV customers can watch the show live on SKY Arena pay-per-view for only $19.95.

A portion of the band's pay-per-view net proceeds will be donated to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Fund, which has directed the money to the Woolston-Phillipstown Merged School, opening in January next year.

The concert will be broadcast live from 9.00pm on SKY Arena in HD and Dolby 5.1 surround sound – making for an excellent viewing experience. With a crew of 62 on ground crew, 11 HD cameras, a full multi-track mix for television, the sound and picture quality translating onto people's screens and home theatre systems will be so realistic, they’ll think Shihad are live in their living room! The fortunate few that experienced last night's rehearsals walked away lost for words.

“We've got a super experienced crew across the ground. We've brought cameramen from across the country; from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, who all have extensive international experience in live television”, says SKY Arena Company Director, John McRae.

Performing their new album FVEY in its entirety, as well as hits from their back catalogue of monster albums; Shihad are looking forward to playing the entire album LIVE straight off the bat, the way it’s meant to be heard - loud and heavy.

FVEY recently debuted at #1 on the NZ Album Chart, making NZ music history with Shihad having had the most #1 albums of any NZ band; and all five have debuted at #1 - a feat no other NZ band has ever achieved.

“Since 1993 when the four Kiwi lads laid down their first studio album, Shihad have evolved to become the nation’s most electrifying and devastating live band,” says SKY Arena CEO George Macfarlane.
