Nicol named as Mondiale Auckland Aces captain
Rob Nicol will assume the captaincy of the Mondiale Auckland Aces this season.
Nicol who has returned to the province after a five year absence says he is keen to start training with the Aces and honoured to be named as captain.
“We have depth in our squad and a number of really exciting players. I’m keen to start working with them along with the other new faces who have joined the Aces.”
The Mondiale Auckland Aces begin their season in the Plunket Shield four day competition with their first game on October 23 against the Northern Knights in Whangarei.
“We have six weeks until the start of the season so we want to work on making it a tight-knit group that is well prepared for the games ahead”, Nicol said.

More: Rob Nicol played for Auckland from 2001/02 until 2008/09 before moving to Canterbury to play for the Canterbury Wizards. The previous captain of the Mondiale Auckland Aces was Gareth Hopkins.
