The Story:
Labyrinth Rocks, a short film shot on location in Takaka, is the only New Zealand film to be accepted for the upcoming Viewster Online
Film Festival (#VOFF3).
Starring three local young actors from Golden Bay, Labyrinth Rocks had its sell-out world première at the Village Theatre in Takaka, in May this year.
The theme for #VOFF3 – ‘Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid’.
“Despite the festival’s theme, Labyrinth Rocks is not strictly a horror film – it’s an atmospheric fantasy tale that
pays homage to classic fairy tales and is fun for the whole family,” says Cambridge-born Labyrinth Rocks writer-director Gary Davies.
The #VOFF3 is an international online event that showcases and rewards short films, features and web series that are not
always as famous as they should be.
The festival runs worldwide from 11-25 September, and Labyrinth Rocks is the only New Zealand film to be accepted.
The #VOFF3 is a community moderated online festival. Millions of viewers from around the world will determine the
finalists from all of the qualified entries. An independent jury will review the finalists and choose the final winners
of the festival.
The audience gets to participate by voting on their favourite entries and help select the finalists for the jury to
decide who will get a cut of the $100,000 prizes. The winners will be announced on 5 October at the Raindance Film
Festival in London, UK.
“There are also prizes for voters including a trip for two to London. So please get online and vote for Labyrinth
Rocks!” says Labyrinth Rocks producer from Auckland, Zara Lynch.
“The more people who watch, vote and talk about Labyrinth Rocks, the better chance we have of getting into the finals,
so tell your friends and whanau to join and vote too,” says Zara.
