Political parties to pitch their sport and recreation policies
Sport and recreation play an important part in the day to day lives of thousands of people who call the Waikato region their home. There is strong evidence that at both high performance and community sport level, sport and recreation provide important social and economic benefits when they are elevated in profile.
“With an election just around the corner, Sport Waikato wants our region to understand what the respective political parties proposed sport and recreation policies will be” says Sport Waikato chief executive Matthew Cooper.
“We would like to invite you to Brian Perry Sports House for a sporting discussion with some of our key electoral candidates” says Cooper.
Whether you are an Olympic athlete or a weekend walker, sport and recreation plays a major part in the lives of all people living in the Waikato region, and it is important that our communities consider the policies put forward by our political parties when they go to vote on 20 September.
Attendees who come along to the discussion will have a chance to hear from Tim McIndoe and David Bennett from the National party, Cliff Allen from Labour, and Mark Servian of the Green party.
The discussion will be held at Brian Perry Sports House, Wintec Rotokauri Campus at 5:30pm on Tuesday 16 September.
Anyone who is interested should RSVP before Friday 12 September to rebeccat@sportwaikato.org.nz or phone 07 858 5388. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.
