1200 Cantabrians. Two Concerts.
The Christchurch Civic Music Council Inc. (CCMC) is proud to present two concerts at the Horncastle (formerly CBS) Arena; “Celebrating Our Musical Diversity”, with the support of the Christchurch Migrant Centre, and “Strum, Strike, and Blow” in conjunction with Music Education Canterbury. These concerts will be held on Tuesday the 23rd of September at 7:30pm and Wednesday the 24th of September at 7pm, respectively.
Celebrating Our Musical Diversity will showcase over fifteen ethnic groups from within and around Canterbury, who have been busy fine tuning their performances with a mix of traditional and contemporary pieces. Strum, Strike, and Blow will involve over 1000 primary school children playing ukuleles, marimbas and recorders. The students have been busy practising their musical pieces at each of their schools in preparation for the event.
The CCMC has been operating for 73 years, during which time it has continued to foster and promote music in Canterbury. This year CCMC is celebrating our region’s musical diversity, and is providing our youth with an opportunity to participate in a unified concert in order to help strengthen their lifetime interest in music.
The concerts will offer a lively atmosphere for all families and members of the public to enjoy. In order to encourage participation in music, both events are free, although a gold coin donation would be appreciated.
