Media release: ffringe ffestival flying!
The Christchurch fringe Fringe Festival is set to release the programme in the next two weeks. “The first fringe festival in Christchurch in 15 years has got off to a great start,” says Fab Four Collective member and El Pancho, Sam Fisher. “We will announce the acts and the programme in September,” he said.
”We have music, comedy, dancing, film, body painting, poetry, workshops, theatre and even a type of carnival, we promised ffun and we’ve got it,” said Sam Fisher. “Also we have to confess the Fab Four collective has 9 members and the festival has events before the 13th and after the 31st.”
A play Closer produced by successful local theatre group A little Box at the top of the stairs is one of the feature acts. “We’re very pleased to see this play- experienced actors and production of a proven work demonstrates that despite post quake venue issues, theatre is alive and well,” said ffringe Admin guru Christy Ballantyne.
“We’ve already run a training play written and directed by a new writer, thanks to support from the Winter Chill scheme run by CERA,” said Christy. “Jordon Jones who wrote and directed the highly successful, Secrets and Slights has taken time from her studies and gave it a go, exactly what Fringe is for. We are particularly pleased the cast and crew of her play, and much of the audience were under 24,” she said.
The Christchurch fringe Fringe Festival will officially be from 13 October to 31 October.
“This is about fun, participation and giving it a go. The experience and talent behind Closer alongside Jordon and Christy who are both incredibly talented young people stepping up; that is the spirit of Fringe,” said Sam Fisher who has entered 5 NZ fringe festivals and been on the NZ Fringe Trust.
