THE WINNERS OF THE EDGE’S LOVE YOU MAN ANNOUNCED
Three weeks ago, The Edge launched Love You Man; a competition where two best mates must marry in order to win the ultimate Rugby trip to the UK in 2015.
After receiving over 200 entries, and putting three bromance couples through their paces, Jay-Jay, Mike and Dom announced the winning „couple this morning.
Dunedin buddies, 24 year old teacher Matt McCormick and 23 year old engineering student Travis McIntosh are taking their friendship to the next level and walking down the aisle next Friday, September 12 at 7:30am.
“There was no “rucking” around. It was a game of two halves, the boys gave it 110%, but at the end of the day, the better team won.” says McCormick.
The wedding will stream live on http://www.theedge.co.nz/
and Jay-Jay, Mike and Dom will broadcast live from the venue.
"Matt and Travis, or „Mattress as I have affectionately named them, are great guys. They are excited about next years trip to London but are just as pumped about their big day next Friday. Its not going to be your traditional wedding. In fact, this may be the first wedding in history where the newlyweds will try to crack onto the guests,” says Dom Harvey from The Edge Breakfast Show.
The ceremony will be held at New Zealands most iconic stadium, Eden Park, and the ceremony will be led by sports journalist and broadcaster, James McOnie.
“Im looking forward to seeing two men who clearly love each other take the next step. I think this marriage will have as much chance of working out as most of the couples whose weddings Ive MCd...take that how you want,” says McOnie.
From today, the lads will have one week to create their dream wedding. Asking all those tricky questions two mates getting married must to answer.
Will disapproving family and friends attend? Who will walk down the aisle? Will anyone object?
The Edge has built a reputation on creating outrageous weddings. It started 13 years ago when they married two complete strangers, Paula Stockwell and Zane Nicholl.
Since then The Edge has married two more sets of strangers, eloped three couples to Las Vegas, married a couple without clothes in Nudie Nuptials, left the groom to do all the work in Man Made Wedding and last year celebrated same sex marriage by marrying two gay couples.
