My Kitchen Rules New Zealand's First Elimination
TUESDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER, 2014
Bogan Besties, June and Steph, are the first team eliminated from My Kitchen Rules New Zealand!
The third team to cook, June and Steph had viewers in stiches with their unique cooking techniques and unusual décor choices. But unfortunately their medieval-themed Instant Restaurant (dubbed ‘The Winchester Dungeon’) failed to impress judges Ben Bayly and Gareth Stewart, or their dinner party guests.
Tonight’s episode (Tuesday 2nd September) ventured to Orewa for the last Instant Restaurant of Group One. Tracey and Neil’s dinner proved to be a mixed bag, with Ben and Gareth slating the entrée, before the fashionable duo managed to turn things around for a stellar main.
Despite a few negative barbs, Tracey and Neil proved they had done enough to stay in the competition, scoring 57 points to June and Steph’s disappointing 47.
As the lowest scorers in Group One, June and Steph said they were ‘bummed’ to be going home, but were nevertheless looking forward to getting back to their families. Thanking them for opening their home, Ben noted that it would certainly be a lot quieter without these hilarious besties at the table.
June and Steph said of the result, “we are disappointed that we didn’t get to show our full potential as cooks, but we just wish all the other teams the best of luck.”
MKR NZ continues tomorrow evening (Wednesday 3rd September) with the introduction of the Group Two teams: Polynesian Cooks, Aaron and Heather, Ian and Sandie a.k.a The Fireman and his Flame, Christchurch Cuties, Jessie and Ricki, Corporate Dads, Josh and Aaron, and Hawkes Bay Sisters, Kelly and Megan.
Who has what it takes to be crowned the first My Kitchen Rules New Zealand champion?
