Papaiti Records passes milestone of 100 bootlegs, releases celebratory compilation & launches on Flying Out
Papaiti Records is a NZ music label-collective that started in late 2009. All releases have been and continue to be available for free download, including a bootleg archive that recently topped 100 live show recordings.
To celebrate the milestone of 100 bootlegs, Papaiti are releasing a compilation of some of their favourite songs from the archive. Called “Forever Papaiti 100 Bootlegs” it contains songs by 18 different artists including Mount Eerie, Street Chant, Lontalius and Over the Atlantic.
The bootlegs project started in early 2010 with the modest goal getting nice recordings of the great shows happening around Wellington, and making them accessible. The free-to-download archive has grown in scope and number, now documenting shows around NZ, as well as some in Australia and China. With no end in sight, the collection continues to grow; this compilation will serve as a summary of the first 100.
Forever Papaiti 100 Bootlegs is available now as a free download or on tape.
Papaiti are also happy to announce that physical copies of their releases are available from the Flying Out store as of today. Downloads will continue to be free at papaiti.com.
In other Papaiti news, September will see Carb on Carb playing a few shows around the country; in Palmerston North, Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin. It will be their first set of shows since supporting Bare Grillz on their tour in February. Dates below.
