An Evening With Nigel Latta
Nigel Latta is hosting a one off talk, “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Success”, to benefit the children’s cancer
charity he is ambassador for, Kenzie’s Gift (http://www.kenziesgift.com/) at 7:30pm on Wednesday 10th September at Westlake Boys High School, Forrest Hill, Auckland.
During his Politicaly Incorrect Guide to Success, Nigel says, “I’ll be looking at the burning questions of, ‘What does
it take to be successful in the modern world? How can we achieve the goals we set for ourselves in our professional and
personal lives? How do we encourage our children to think about what they want to achieve in their own lives?”
Nigel will take us on a 13.7 billion year journey to the lengths of the known universe and beyond with his unique and
highly entertaining spin on science, parenting, personal opinion and penguins. He will also share the unlikely story of
his own life, and the good - and bad - decisions he made along the way. So whether you're in the business of business,
of raising children or just the business of life, this is an evening that will entertain, enlighten and provoke.
Nigel says “I am honoured to be the ambassador for Kenzie’s Gift, who provide a range of incredibly important
psychological services to children and families struggling with life threatening illness. It is fundamentally important
that families struggling with these kinds of issues receive support that is evidence-based rather than simply ‘well
intended’.
One family, who had the support of Kenzie’s Gift services, says the support they had was invaluable. Following the death
of her husband, Debbie (who does not want her surname used) said her 9-year-old son struggled to cope with overwhelming
grief. "With the support from Kenzie’s Gift child and youth psychotherapists, my son was able to explore his grief and
develop the tools and coping strategies he needed. He can now talk openly about his Dad, cope under pressure, is
confident both at home and at school.”
Kenzie's Gift is a charity that was founded by Nic Russell, whose 3-year-old daughter, Kenzie, died from an aggressive
form of bone cancer in 2005. The charity supports the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children, young people
and their families affected by serious illness or bereavement through one on one therapy provided by registered
therapists.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit Kenzie's Gift (http://www.kenziesgift.com/)
