Air New Zealand invites Hobbit fans to enter The Hobbit Fan Fellowship Contest for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime
preview screening of
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Hobbit fans around the world will today get their chance to compete to win a once-in-a-lifetime private preview
screening with Sir Peter Jackson of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), before the film’s December theatrical release.
Entries open today for The Hobbit Fan Fellowship Contest, which will require fans to complete a series of four challenges. The first challenge, ‘Postcard to Peter’, invites
Hobbit fans to choose from six New Zealand postcard images and upload a message to Sir Peter Jackson expressing their
love for the Hobbit films and what travelling to New Zealand would mean to them.
Air New Zealand is hosting the competition in New Zealand in association with Tourism New Zealand. The official airline
of Middle-earth will fly up to 75 fans, plus one guest each, to New Zealand in November to attend the screening and
visit filming locations from The Hobbit Trilogy.
Air New Zealand Head of Global Brand Development Jodi Williams says that as well as being an exciting opportunity for
Hobbit fans, the competition is a significant platform to promote Middle-earth and all that it has to offer to a global
audience.
“We’ve invested heavily in campaigns to market The Hobbit films over the past three years and research has shown that interest in New Zealand as a destination has grown off the
back of some of this activity.
“This competition will see up to 75 fans experiencing the best of Middle-earth and I’m sure sharing their experiences
online. We hope in turn this may entice more people around the world to consider a trip to New Zealand,” says Ms
Williams.
Entries for The Hobbit Fan Fellowship Contest are open now until 23 September. Kiwi fans can visit thehobbitfancontest.com for more details and to enter.
