The Rock’s Bryce Casey to Bowl 55-Hours Non-Stop for Cure Kids Red Nose Day Appeal

It’s been 10 years since The Rock’s Bryce Casey broke himself in his attempt (and subsequent failure) to break the world record for the longest marathon of ten-pin bowling. Exactly 10 years later Casey’s co-hosts on The Morning Rumble, Roger Farrelly and Leah Panapa, will attempt to break Bryce once more by making him do it all over again.

Casey will begin his ‘Breaking Bryce’ bowling challenge on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7.30am live on The Morning Rumble with the hope being that he’ll bowl for a consecutive 55 hours and 16 minutes, beating his own record of 52 hours and 26 minutes that he set in 2004 and matching the then world record.

“Leah and Rog reckon I’m a better man 10 years on and that good things come to those who wait... not in my case it seems,” says Casey. “I’m being forced to do something I hated then and will probably hate more this time around, but at least this time some good will come from it with money being raised for the Red Nose Day appeal.”

Casey has some motivation to reach his goal with a text donation line being set up to support the Cure Kids Red Nose Day appeal. The public can support Casey and make an instant donation of $3 by texting the keyword ‘BREAK’ to 933.

“He’s lucky we’re not making him go for the current world record of 134 hours and 57 minutes!” says Panapa.

“I’m so stoked Bryce is doing the bowling challenge again – he was unprepared last time and really let himself down,” adds Farrelly. “Ten years on I have a feeling he’ll do way better; the good thing is if he fails again we’ll have something to do on the show in 2024.”

The ‘Breaking Bryce’ event will be broadcast live on The Rock and will stream live online at therock.net.nz.
