Hot Property: Tv One’s “Our First Home” Goes into Production
Promising to bring the fun and feel-good factor to the nation’s obsession with DIY and the property market, TV ONE’s Our First Home has gone into production with the major backing of BNZ, Toyota and Fly Buys.
The brand new multi-night series is pegged for TV ONE’s primetime schedule next year and will follow Kiwi parents doing what they’ve always done for their kids – helping the next generation with their first step on the property ladder. Competing as three teams of Kiwi families, parents will work with their adult children to buy, renovate and sell a home.
“Our First Home is sure to strike a strong chord with our viewers as it tells the story that thousands of New Zealanders are living today. For many the Kiwi quarter acre dream is simply out of reach, without a lot of blood, sweat and probably tears too,” says Andrew Shaw, TVNZ’s GM of Commissioning, Production and Acquisitions.
“Our First Home puts an entertaining new spin on the competitive DIY reality format. Part observational doco, part soap opera – the strong family dynamic will turn up the drama and will give the show broad appeal. We’re excited to give this fun and feel good new show a home on TV ONE,” he says.
The show is being made with the support of BNZ, Toyota and Fly Buys. TVNZ says the ground up approach to production partnerships will take programme integration to the next level.
“We’re excited to be collaborating with BNZ, Toyota and Fly Buys to make them an integral and natural part of the Our First Home story. Their early support has opened up a lot more creative opportunities that will add value to the viewers’ experience of this show,” says Lyndsey Francis, TVNZ’s GM of Media Solutions and Insights.
“It’s going to be fantastic to see how their involvement will come to life in and around the show, across digital and in store. BNZ, Toyota and Fly Buys are a fantastic fit for Our First Home as they share a common desire to see Kiwis realise their dreams. We think our viewers will really respond to that and it will do great things for their businesses,” she says.
An Eyeworks Format for TVNZ , Our First Home will air in 2015.
