The dual city band release their second album with a North Island tour

The difficult second album from The Doubtful Sounds, 'A Stone's Throw From Happiness', is due out this month – on August 22, and will be supported by a North Island tour in the last week of August, and a
South Island tour in October. With two of the band members residing in Auckland, and one in Wellington, their shows are
rare, but undoubtedly worth attending.
Doubters of the quality of The Doubtful Sounds can get to know the band by visiting the album’s first single, a double A-side with ‘Throwing Stones’ and ‘Unrequited
Love’, or the second single, ‘Painting by Numbers’ – with an accompanying art-pop video. The keen-eared may already know
them, as both songs have skimmed across the country’s airwaves, on Kiwi FM and the student radio network, with ‘Throwing
Stones’ landing in the 95bFM Top Ten.
The double A-side of ‘Throwing Stones’/‘Unrequited Love’ is a little bit noisy, a little bit rough and 2/3rds pop guitars. Second single ‘Painting By Numbers’ is a solid nod to the Sounds’ Nun-esque pop guitar roots. It’s a good, radio friendly song about the palette of life and
breaking the mould. You hum it, we’ll dance!
