Haier Pulse Locks Down Leota for 2015
Liana Leota will be returning to the Haier Pulse in 2015, after agreeing a new one-year contract to stay with the team she has been part of for two years.
The midcourter made a successful return to the game following the birth of her third child earlier this year, capping her comeback with selection for the Silver Ferns at the recent Commonwealth Games.
She made her ANZ Championship debut in 2008 for the Southern Steel, picking up the competition’s Most Valuable Player award in 2010.
Haier Pulse CEO Carolyn Young believes that securing Leota is a vital step towards building a winning team for next year’s campaign. “Liana has proved that she is a world-class player and the way she fought her way back into the national team with so little netball behind her shows how determined she is to achieve more in the game.
“With nine players now signed up for next season, along with coach Robyn Broughton, we have the core of a very exciting squad of players ready to compete for the championship in 2015. With several young players in our group, Liana’s experience will be invaluable in terms of their development.”
