Final Call for Creative Young Stars
Aspiring young Kiwi designers and artists have just two weeks to register for the inaugural 2014 Brother Design Stars.
Official registrations close at 5pm on Friday 22 August, with all constructed garments and hot water bottle designs due
by 5pm on Friday 5 September.
Brother Design Stars is open to all young kiwis in years 7 to 13 who are passionate about art, craft and fashion.
From an overall theme of ‘Use Old, Create New’ entrants are encouraged to recycle, reuse and repurpose materials from
everyday life. The theme runs across both categories; the Brother Design Stars Craft Award (requiring designers to
design a hot water bottle cover) and the Brother Design Stars Fashion Award (requiring designers to create a ‘ready to
wear’ garment).
To date, hundreds of entries have been received from regions right across New Zealand. All entrants who send in an entry
form by Friday 22 August will receive a courier ticket to get their entries to Auckland for judging.
The finalists and supreme winners will be in to win over 10,000 worth of prizes, including a trip to Auckland, shopping
gift cards, Brother sewing machines and ScanNCuts for themselves and their school, Creme magazine subscriptions and much
more. The winning designs will also feature on The 4.30pm Show.
