Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular Materialises in Auckland
Smash hit Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular returns to New Zealand with a brand new show in 2015, performing for the first time in Auckland. It follows Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular’s performance earlier this year in Wellington, as part of the New Zealand Festival, which received a rapturous response
from audiences.
The show will be hosted once more by fifth doctor Peter Davison. He will take to the stage on Sunday 15 February 2015 at Vector Arena alongside Daleks, Cybermen and a host of other
Doctor Who monsters in this musical celebration of the iconic TV series, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last
year.
The new show will feature music from the upcoming new series of Doctor Who and specially edited sequences of Peter Capaldi’s debut as the twelfth Doctor, as well as fan favourites from recent
series and classic nostalgic footage. Composer Murray Gold’s captivating music will be performed once again by the New
Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
The 2015 tour, which will also perform in Australia in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide is brought to audiences by BBC
Worldwide Australia and New Zealand in association with AKM.
Murray Gold said: “Audiences will be able to hear the first public performances of music from the Capaldi era,
encapsulating the dizzy rush and excitement of a new Doctor.”

music and the monsters and I can’t wait to join you again with this exciting new show. Once again Murray Gold’s
brilliant compositions are arranged by Ben Foster for full orchestra, and it is fantastic to be able to give audiences
the opportunity to hear these pieces played live by your world class musicians.”
