Kerretta announce new album: 'Pirohia'
MIDIUM RECORDS are proud to announce the release of Taite Music Prize nominees KERRETTA's new album 'Pirohia'.
Available 05 SEP 2014.
This New Zealand trio has toured the world for the last four years and ‘Pirohia’ will be the band’s third full length album.
Kerretta have shared stages over Europe, North America, and Australasia with the likes of The Breeders, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Explosions In The Sky, Mono, and have performed festivals such as Incubate (NEL), Dunk! Festival (BEL), SXSW (USA) and Big Day Out (NZL).
Primarily instrumental, Kerretta revel with steadfast glee, the ins and the outs, the ups and the downs of a purely sonic narrative. A narrative that is heavy and dark, twisted with shards of beauty and danger all sitting securely on top of a churning slow burn groove. On one track only does the trio relent, and then in an unconventional fashion featuring vocals in Te Reo Maori fashioned along the ancient sun-bleached bones of a traditional Maori waiata.
Having been compared to the likes of Tool, Russian Circles, and described as a thinking bogan’s rock band, Kerretta are excited to unleash their first album since 2011.
