Sky Tower lights up to cheer corporates for Sky Tower charity climb
Auckland’s skyline will shine blue and white from Thursday 31 August through to the weekend as 80 teams race up 1,103 stairs on Friday 1 August for the Corporate Sky Tower Stair Challenge supporting Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).
The Corporate Sky Tower Stair Challenge will see teams from businesses across the country race up 53 levels of the Sky Tower to raise funds for LBC, who support patients and families across the country living with a blood cancer or related blood condition.
This is the third year corporate teams have raced up the Sky Tower, with the event selling out in record time. Fundraising efforts have already exceeded last year’s event, however there are still a few days left to reach this year’s target of $250,000.
This event follows the successful Firefighter Sky Tower Chair challenge earlier this year which saw a record-breaking 739 firefighters race up the Tower, raising more than $913,000 for LBC.
The Sky Tower is New Zealand’s tallest man-made structure and SKYCITY frequently lights the Sky Tower to show support for a number of organisations and special events.
SKYCITY often lights the Tower for charities or community initiatives that we support financially, or to mark national holidays, milestones or other celebrations.
