Fellowes and Hazeldine Sign for EasiYo Tactix

EasiYo Tactix are delighted to announce the signing of experienced defender Demelza Fellowes (formerly McCloud) and
versatile shooter/mid-courter Gemma Hazeldine for the 2015 ANZ Championship season.
Fellowes returns to the EasiYo Tactix seven years after playing for the team in the inaugural ANZ Championship season in
2008. She re-joins the line-up after stints with the Queensland Firebirds (2009, 2013), Melbourne Vixens (2010 –
replacement player) and Southern Steel (2012).
She is the second import to sign for the EasiYo Tactix after the franchise was granted special dispensation from TTNL,
operators of the ANZ Championship. A former Australian international with 9 test caps to her name, Fellowes will be a
welcome addition to the defensive end for the EasiYo Tactix.
“Demelza will be a valuable asset to the team both on and off the court and we are very pleased to have secured someone
of her calibre to add to the EasiYo Tactix playing roster,” said Netball Mainland CEO Brigit Hearn.
“She is a senior, experienced campaigner and we know she’ll bring a level of professionalism and leadership that we need
at the defensive end of the court.”
Fellowes says there are still some familiar faces at the EasiYo Tactix from when she suited up for the team in 2008, so
it won’t be altogether unfamiliar.
“I am so thrilled to have signed to play for the Tactix in 2015 and very excited to be part of what I think will be a
new chapter for the team,” she said.
“I love the Mainland vibe and the new facilities they have there, plus I’ll be able to catch up with some old friends
which will be really lovely.”
Gemma Hazeldine made her ANZ Championship debut in 2014 at the Central Pulse but struggled for court time despite being
a member of the 2013 World Youth Netball Championship winning team. A Cantabrian, Hazeldine impressed in the 2014
National Under 23 tournament in Dunedin, named in the U23 tournament selection. The 21-year old says she’s looking
forward to heading back home.
“I am extremely excited to be given the opportunity to come home and play for the Tactix,” she said.
“Home is where the heart is and I can’t wait for the pre-season to get started,” she said.
