New Drama Workshops for children and teenagers offered in Hastings and Taradale.
The Drama Workshop was formed in Hawkes Bay in 2008 by teaching and performing duo, Juliet and Peter Cottrell.
The classes in Hastings are in Duke Street, starting very soon, and the classes in Taradale are being conducted at the
Greenmeadows Hall.
The Workshops are designed to learn performance and presenting skills and gain confidence.
Performances are held throughout the year for parents and the wider community. Most importantly, the children are off
their devices and learning how to communicate positively and effectively.
“Kids love to improvise, they have great imaginations and we take them through a process that builds on their natural
creative abilities,” says Juliet Cottrell.
“We really notice the difference in the kids from the beginning of the workshops to what is achieved at the end of each
term, ” she said.
“We take kids from seven years of age through to the teenage years and split them up so that they are enjoying their
classes with their peers.”
Juliet is a drama teacher with more than twenty five years experience at all levels of education including tertiary. Her
expertise lies in Applied Theatre and Theatre in Education. She also works as a producer and performer in corporate
theatre.
Meanwhile Peter is a professionally trained actor with 30 years experience in the industry. He has also worked as a
performning arts teacher in schools from primary through to tertiary. Together they run the corporate entertainment
company Expertease Theatre Limited.
With this wealth of experience from this dynamic duo it means those going to the classes get expert training and come
away with a sound knowledge and understanding of drama.
