Charity Drives Campaign to Help Get Women Back to Work
Following the launch of its Random Acts of Likeness Australasian-wide social media campaign, the global charity Dress for Success has seen many supporters ‘Like’ its Facebook page and share virtual compliments far and wide, to enrich recipients with messages of support and confidence.
Dress for Success is now looking for the important funds needed to enable the charity to operate and achieve its overarching objectives, one of which is to help at least 2000 women in New Zealand return or enter the workforce within the next 12 months!
“We are on a mission to help get people back to the work place”, says Sue Lewis-O-Halloran, ANZ Regional Director of Dress for Success Worldwide. “We’ve launched a new text service to run alongside our Facebook page, so that making a donation is quick and easy - people just have to text the word ‘LIKE’ to 4483 and $3 will be automatically donated.”
“Being a volunteer-driven charity, we rely heavily on the donations made from both businesses and the general public, as on average it costs $150 to ‘dress’ a client.”
“In order to get 2000 people back in the workplace this year, we need to raise a total of $300,000 – so if we can get 100,000 Kiwis donating just $3 through our new texting service, we can make this happen!”
“Donors can see their contributions as investments - when we help a woman enter or return to employment and to keep her job, it helps the New Zealand economy and taxpayers, in addition to benefiting our client and her family.”
“Anecdotally we know that approximately 60% of the women who come to Dress for Success gain employment. We also know (statistically) over 75% who join our Professional Women’s Group (PWG), our job retention and leadership programme, are still employed after one year;
and over 60% receive a pay raise and/or promotion during that time. We’re moving them from the beneficiary rolls to the workforce and many are climbing the corporate ladder.”
“Using our Random Acts of Likeness campaign, we’d love to invite people to sponsor just one woman at Dress for Success - or even get five friends or co-workers together to do it – just imagine the possibilities!”
“Corporates are also encouraged to help – for example, to dress two women would only cost them $300.”
“Every dollar makes a huge difference as we seek to help more women transform their lives!”
Be part of the Dress for Success ‘Random Acts of Likeness’ campaign and get donating today, either via the Facebook page, facebook.com/RandomActsofLikeness, or by texting ‘LIKE” to 4483.
