EasiYo Tactix are pulling together an impressive playing roster for the 2015 ANZ Championship season with four more athletes re-signing for another year.
Defenders Jess Moulds and Zoe Walker, and midcourters Hayley Saunders and Nicola Mackle have recommitted to the Mainland team, joining Anna Thompson, Mwai Kumwenda and new signing Bailey Mes who is switching allegiance from the Northern Mystics.
Netball Mainland CEO Brigit Hearn says the team showed huge improvements in 2014 and keeping the core of the team together for next season was a priority.
“We are delighted that these talented players have re-signed for 2015 and we look forward to seeing them continue to develop their Netball in the supportive environment we have here in the Mainland.”
“We’re excited to have the bulk of the team recommitting to the EasiYo Tactix and we’re confident we can challenge the best in the league next season,” she said.
TTNL, operators of the ANZ Championship have confirmed the Mainland team can recruit more than one import player as the team continues to rebuild after the devastating Christchurch earthquakes.
With Malawian international Mwai Kumwenda re-signed for next season, the opportunity is there for Mainland management to look further abroad to boost the player stocks.
It has often been challenging attracting top quality players to the region, but Hearn says the time for excuses are over and the impressive training facilities on site at Jellie Park, should be incentive enough for any elite athlete.
“We are proud of what we have built here in Christchurch both on and off the court and our hopes are high of what next season will bring.”
