NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team leaves for ISAF Youth Worlds
NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team flies tomorrow for ISAF Youth Worlds
One week from now the first race of the 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships will get underway with teams from around the globe descending upon Tavira, Portugal over coming days to prepare.
The 2014 NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team, including twelve sailors and four coaching support, depart New Zealand tomorrow and will arrive in Portugal at the venue on July 9th.
The 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships will be a massive event with 54 nations represented and a total of 348 sailors entered.
Team manager Ian Neely says they are ready and raring to go; “Everyone has put in a huge effort to be as well prepared as possible for this event, so we’re keen to get going and put it all into action.”
“It’s a long trip for us to Portugal and we will use the five days before racing to acclimatise, get familiar with the venue, put the supplied boats together and get a couple of training sessions in. Come next Monday we will be on the water for racing – that’s our chance to get out there and do what we do best.”
Five days later on Friday 18th July the medals and the winner of the Nations Trophy will be decided.
