Darren Watson: Third Time's a Charm
New Zealand’s favourite rhythm and blues-man, Darren Watson can’t wait to return to Tokomaru, just outside Palmerston
North, for a third performance of his acoustic solo show at The Bent Horseshoe Cafe on Saturday 12 July.

“For those hard core fans coming back a third time there’ll be a mix of new songs alongside their usual favourites. In
January I went on a short music safari of the States, visiting LA, Austin and New Orleans – seeing and playing with some
amazing musicians, including jamming with one of my long time heroes Rick Holmstrom.” (Mavis Staples Band)
“I may even be persuaded to unleash a brand new song or two from my next album that is nearly finished and will be
released later this year.”
The show includes Watson’s originals alongside classic blues songs from as far back as the 1920s. Renowned for his
energetic performances and powerhouse vocals, Watson guarantees to play a varied mix “There’ll be some gentler emotional
moments for sure, but if last time is anything to go by, there’ll also be plenty of footstompin’ and hollerin’ fun!”
Darren Watson has spent almost three decades 'paying his blues dues' touring New Zealand and beyond with successful
bands like Chicago Smoke Shop, and working alongside American and Kiwi blues legends Billy Boy Arnold and Midge Marsden.
