DRESS FOR SUCCESS LAUNCHES RANDOM ACTS OF LIKENESS
Paying someone a simple compliment can have a profound and positive impact on how a person feels. That’s why the
charity, Dress for Success, is launching Random Acts of Likeness - an Australasian-wide campaign that aims to spread messages of positivity virally - and of course raise funds for the
important work the charity does.
Taking place from 30 June through to 23 July, Dress for Success will launch a new Random Acts of Likeness Facebook page Facebook.com/RandomActsofLikeness, and will use this as a platform to provide users with the opportunity to commit… Random Acts of Likeness!
Every day during the campaign, a ‘Like Card’ will be made available for Facebook users to share, either on their own
News Feed or on their friends’ Walls – so people can spread the feel-good factor for all to experience and enjoy!
Sue Lewis-O-Halloran, ANZ Regional Director of Dress for Success Worldwide, says: “Ours is a global charity that
provides a wraparound, multi-programmed service. We help women in need enter/return to the workforce and support them in
their job search. Once employed, we equip them with job retention and leadership skills. One of the greatest gifts we
give these women is the gift of confidence – the first step in transforming their lives and becoming strong role models
for their families and their communities.
“Each day during our Random Acts of Likeness campaign, our ‘Like Card’ will provide upbeat, positive messages that are
closely aligned with what Dress for Success is about and our vision of ‘Every Woman Succeeding’ and these will be
available to share on Facebook.”
“We aim to reach out to as many people as possible, so that we can communicate the real value of providing positive
encouragement and giving a hand up versus a handout. We’re reminded every day by our clients that a simple compliment
can work wonders for self-esteem.”
Jacquie Tuatara, a former client and a current volunteer for Dress for Success, says: “Compliments are an important
component to our lives – simply put, they matter. Given in the right context and at the right time, they can make the
difference between success and failure, between having a great job interview and not having one.”
A ‘donate now’ button will be on the Facebook page, so Dress for Success can raise funds to help even more women in
Australia and New Zealand achieve their own picture of success.
Sue continues: “We have a number of celebrities involved with Random Acts of Likeness, including: Boh Runga, Shannon
Ryan, Kylie Bax and Sam Hayes sharing Daily Like Cards out to unassuming Kiwis.
“We also have several trans-Tasman partners who are participating in this campaign, including Ziera Shoes, Accenture,
Accor Advantage Plus and Manpower; not only will they be encouraging their staff and clients to ‘Like’ our Random Acts
of Likeness page, some will be donating funds based on the number of ‘Likes’ we receive.
“We urge everyone to join in, get involved, and make people feel great with a simple and meaningful gesture.”
