Joline Henry Voted Fans’ Player of the Year
Haier Pulse vice-captain Joline Henry was presented with the Fans’ Player of the Year award at the Haier Pulse end of
season dinner at Wellington’s Monsoon Poon.
The Silver Fern mid-courter gained over quarter of the fans’ votes on a recent poll of Haier Pulse Facebook followers.
Fans stated her leadership, drive and determination on court as some of the factors that make her a firm fan favourite.
Haier Pulse and Netball Central Zone CEO, Carolyn Young, said: “Joline plays a pivotal role in the team mechanics on
court. Her personal commitment and drive are first class and it is no surprise that the fans have chosen her as their
player of the year.”
2014 recruit Elias Shadrock was the recipient of the Players’ Player award. Performances on and off the court contribute
to this peer-voted accolade. As well as her tremendous on-court efforts, the 24 year-old was also rated on the way in
which she conducted herself off the court and her commitment to the team.
During the evening, acknowledgements were made to a number of ANZ Championship milestones. These included Irene van Dyk
for reaching 100 caps, and Katrina Grant, Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit and Camilla Lees for reaching 75 caps. Camilla
signed up with the Pulse in 2009 and has since played all her ANZ Championship games with the team.
Robyn Broughton made a special presentation to her outgoing assistant coach Marianne Delaney for her contribution to the
team over the last three seasons. Marianne recently relocated to Christchurch with her family as a result of her
husband’s new job. She will continue to coach the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ team.
Haier Pulse Captain Katrina Grant also thanked the analysis team involved in compiling the match statistics. The team is
made up of volunteers Sue Beckford, John Beckford and Lindsay Filiata.
