Outer Space Publicity proudly presents Libeau (playing Friday in Auckland)
Outer
Space is thrilled to be working with
Christchurch-based artist Libeau (aka
Natalie Libeau).
Libeau's
debut album Led By The Moon has just been
released this week, and was forged during many late nights
recording on her laptop in Christchurch - and has gone much
further afield than she ever imagined.
The best way
to get an idea of her sound is to visit the first single
from the album, 'Them Birds'. It's haunting- but uplifting -
and quite unique.

**Auckland
music fans - you can see and hear Libeau for yourself this
Friday June 27th at the Wine Cellar. Head to the end of this
page for details.
Her songs were compelling
enough to draw the attention, through a mutual friend, of UK
record producer Greg Haver (Manic
Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Codes). He
went to work with Libeau at Christchurch's
newly opened Quicksand studios, where he decided, rather
than record the album from scratch, to use
Libeau's home recordings as the basis of
the album due to their magical quality and innocence.
Having recently seen the work of British guitarist
Andy T. with Portisthead's Adrian
Utley accompanying the 1922 silent film
'Nosferatu’ at Bristol's Gothic Cathedral, he felt they
would be a perfect fit to complete the ensemble. After an
intensive month of recording, the album resumed in the UK
with contributions from the Vulcan String
Quartet, renowned for their work with the
Manic Street Preachers and Bill
Fay, with mixing by Haver’s long
term associate Clint Murphy who brought out
the albums rhythmic side, expanding on the Quicksand
recordings with additional beats and sonorous bass.
With mixing completed, the recordings were mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound in New York, completing the album’s global journey.
And with that journey completed, the album is now available for your listening pleasure.
