INSIGHT Studio Performances

Intimate performances of classical and contemporary dance give audiences a first-hand experience of the School.
Seeing NZSD students dance in the studio where they train provides a real insight into these two contrasting techniques
and the repertoire they are learning. The students will present an hour of short works, drawn from the classical
repertoire and innovative new choreography.
A highlight this term is Solos Evening on Tuesday 1 July. Third year classical and contemporary majors, who are about to
graduate with a Diploma in Dance Performance, will present the solos. They include excerpts from famous ballets 'La
Bayadère' and 'Swan Lake', and contemporary works created by the students themselves.
The School's director Garry Trinder, said about this evening “Performing a solo is a rite of passage for the School’s
third year full-time students. The experience puts each of them in the spotlight, showcasing their individual talents
and personality. An evening such as this provides valuable performance experience for the students as they prepare for
the demands of the professional dance world.”

Entry is by koha/donation and no booking is required. There is plenty of free carparking on site.
