New Zealand’s first hot tub cinema experience to debut at Winter Festival
This winter DB Export are truly embracing the elements to bring to life New Zealand’s first ever hot tub cinema
experience in a truly stunning location at the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.
This Saturday 21st of June, the DB Export Hot Tub Sessions in Earnslaw Park will see some lucky festival goers soak up a
selection of classic kiwi films from their own hot tub heated to 40 degrees. Complete with massage jets and a tub side
bar service the DB Export Hot Tub Sessions will be one of the most sought after seats for people who’ve had a hard day
on the mountain or taking in the festival events.
As Simon Smith, part of the DB Export Queenstown Winter Festival team, explained that transforming Earnslaw Park into a
unique outdoor entertainment experience presented some challenges.
“We’ve got 10 hot tubs that take a total of 12,000 litres of water which we are going to be heating to a cosy 40
degrees. To do this we’ve built four instant gas hot water systems that instantly heat the water as the hot tubs are
filled.”
“With Queenstown having an average air temperature of between zero and eight degrees these tubs will be the place to be
on Saturday the 21st!”
Three kiwi classic films are lined up for the screening. At 2.00pm ‘The World's Fastest Indian’ (parts of which were
shot not too far away in Invercargill) will be shown and then followed up by the comedy classic ‘Eagle vs. Shark’ at
6.00pm. In the intermission, when the hot tubs are spruced up, ‘Footrot Flats - A Dogs Tale’ will by shown.

2.00pm - The World's Fastest Indian (screens 2.00pm – 4.10pm)
6.00pm - Eagle vs. Shark (screens 6.00pm – 7.40pm)
4.15pm - Footrot Flats A Dogs Tale (4.15pm – 6.00pm). Note: no tubs available.
