Ford NZ hosts ‘Ranger vs The World Off-road Experience’ at Fieldays
• Ford New Zealand’s largest Fieldays exhibit yet features Ford Ranger off-road track experience

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – Ford New Zealand has built its largest display area yet for Fieldays and features a full-scale, 4WD track entitled
‘The Ford Ranger vs The World Off-road Experience’.
Ford NZ will be taking up a full five sites this year at Fieldays 2014, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest primary
industry showcase, which opens next Wednesday 11 June through to Saturday 14 June, at Mystery Creek, Hamilton.
The ‘Ranger vs The World Off-road Experience’ will allow Fieldays visitors to take a ride with professional drivers in
New Zealand’s number one truck, the Ford Ranger. The experience will showcase the Ranger’s unsurpassed capability and
versatility on a course that includes a range of challenges, including a steep sided mountain, water wading pool,
waterfall, boulders and logs.
“The Ford Ranger is New Zealand’s favourite truck, preferred by more drivers than any other model this year,” Chris
Masterson, Marketing Manager at Ford NZ said. “At Fieldays we want to demonstrate just why it has become Kiwis’ number
one truck. It will be a thrilling ride for participants, and promises to be one of the highlights of Fieldays 2014.”
The course starts by driving along a steep side slope to highlight Roll-Over Mitigation, which stops the vehicle from
getting into a dangerous roll over situation. The Ranger will then climb 45 degrees up and over the specially built
man-made boulder mountain. The driver will take advantage of Ford Ranger’s Hill Launch Assist, which helps the vehicle
pull away and climb up steep inclines. Upon reaching the summit, it will descend using the Hill Decent Control feature,
which allows greater control on steep hill grades.
Other features in ‘The Ranger vs The World Off-road Experience’ include a log climb, as well as a purpose built lake
where the Ranger’s 800mm water wading capability will be put to the test. In addition, a series of concrete half pipes
will showcase the Ranger’s significant axle articulation, in which one or more of the wheels will leave the ground
without impacting overall performance.
FPV GT F #1 revealed at Fieldays
The full range of Ford NZ vehicles will be on display including New Zealand’s first FPV GT F to arrive in country. The
FPV GT F, wearing the iconic 351 badge, is the final production run from Ford Performance Vehicles and is a limited and
numbered series.
New Zealand is getting 50 of the special vehicles. The New Zealand bound GT Fs will be numbered from one to fifty, each
with its own unique dashboard mounted numbered plaque. The FPV GT F on display at Fieldays will be the highly coveted FPV GT F #1.
The other 49 New Zealand GT Fs are scheduled to arrive in late June or early July. The FPV GT F will be powered by a 351
kilowatt version of the supercharged 5.0 litre engine. The 351 badges pay tribute to the Falcon GTs and GT HOs of the
late sixties and early seventies.

Also sharing the pavilion will be the entire Ford NZ range of vehicles including the Ford Territory, Kuga, Focus ST,
Fiesta ST, Falcon, Mondeo, Transit Custom, and the recently launched Ford EcoSport and Transit Cargo.
And back by popular demand is the Kids Colouring-in Area and free balloons. In between perusing the Ford vehicles, Mom
and Dad might want to try their hand at the Ford EcoSport online game to win a $100 fuel voucher.
“The aim with our pavilion is to provide an engaging Ford experience for Fieldays attendees, not just a static car
display,” added Masterson. “We’ve put on interactive displays in the past and it’s been very popular with attendees. The
Ranger experience takes it to whole new level so we’re really looking forward to this year’s event.”
Ford New Zealand head office staff and Ford dealership representatives from around the country will be on hand to answer
any questions.
The Fieldays expo at the Mystery Creek event centre in Hamilton is the largest agricultural and primary industry sector
event in the Southern Hemisphere, and is expected to attract over 125 000 visitors. In addition to Ford New Zealand,
more than 900 other companies and organisations will be exhibiting across the 92 hectare site, from 11 to 14 June 2014.
