Help preserve Pacific heritage arts – apply for Creative New Zealand funding

Creative New Zealand is encouraging Pasifika artists and communities to apply for upcoming funding opportunities that help preserve Pacific heritage arts.

Heritage arts are artistic expressions and forms that reflect a particular cultural tradition(s) practiced by a Pacific Island group or nation.

Pacific Heritage Arts Award ($5,000) – Recognising valuable contributions

One of the award categories for the 2014 Arts Pasifika Awards, the Pacific Heritage Arts Award recognises an artist or cultural group who has made a major contribution to maintaining, reviving or promoting a Pacific heritage artform in New Zealand. This may include language, dance, traditional music, weaving or tatau.

Do you know of a community group, artist or person that deserves recognition for their contribution to Pacific heritage arts or Pacific arts in general? Be sure to nominate them for a 2014 Arts Pasifika Award.

Nominations close 5pm Friday 27 June 2014.
