World premiere of entertainment series to showcase New Zealand to millions
Results from Tourism New Zealand’s International Media Programme hit New Zealand’s screens on Thursday 22 May, when Travel Channel’s RV Rampage makes its world premiere.
The new 10-part entertainment series will reach an international audience of millions with Travel Channel transmitting 24 hours a day in 23 languages to over 130 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
The show was filmed last year in 10 locations around the country – Auckland; Rotorua; Taupo; Taihape; Wellington; Marlborough and Abel Tasman; Greymouth and Charleston; Franz Joseph and Fox Glacier; Wanaka and Queenstown.
Filming in New Zealand was secured through Tourism New Zealand’s International Media Programme and was supported by 10 different Regional Tourism Organisations, the Holiday Parks Association of New Zealand and key sponsor, maui.
Tourism New Zealand’s Director of Trade, PR and Major Events Justin Watson says the IMP team hosts more than 200 journalists every year with the aim of getting positive stories of a New Zealand holiday, in front of as many of the target audience as possible.
“With RV Rampage, New Zealand will be showcased to a potential 200 million people with each episode, providing incredible reach.”
In the show, the presenters host five international teams of two, who undertake challenges designed to immerse them in the culture and lifestyle of New Zealand and ‘rampage challenges’ to test them mentally and physically.
Justin says: “Each of the episodes was filmed in a different part of the country showcasing the diversity of New Zealand landscapes, the experiences that available to everyone and the people travellers will meet.
“Such significant international exposure over so many markets coming hot on the heels of the coverage we saw of the Royal visit in April, all serves to keep New Zealand top of mind for travellers and support Tourism New Zealand’s aim to increase the value of international visitors to New Zealand.”
The series is hosted by Henry Cole, seasoned Travel Channel host and presenter ofWorld’s Greatest Motorcycle Rides, and hugely popular presenter and broadcaster Amanda Byram of Total Wipeout, The Swan and Big Breakfast fame.
