Kiwis shearers seal North Ireland show cleansweep

New Zealand has completed a cleansweep of the All-Nations shearing and woolhandling events at the Balmoral Show in Northern Ireland with a quinella in today's machine shearing final to World Championships hopes Rowland Smith and John Kirkpatrick.

The result followed a similar quinella by woolhandlers Joel Henare and Ronnie Goss in their event on Thursday, and a trifecta in the bladeshearing final on Wednesday when team members Tony Dobbs and Brian Thomson were first and third, separated by non-team member Phil Oldfield.

The Shearing Sports New Zealand team is preparing for the 16th Golden Shears World Championships in Gorey, Co Wexford, Republic of Ireland, on May 22-25.
