Saturday 10 May 2014 | The views of 5000 Maori representing a cross section of the whole Maori population has been distilled into Te Kupenga, a ground-breaking report on Maori well-being that should provide a substantial meal for Maori researchers, iwi planners and policymakers. In Kia Korero Mai on Saturday with Eru Morgan, Te Kupenga project manager Atawhai Tibble breaks down the findings and explains how Statistics New Zealand came up with them
Sunday 11 May 2014 | It's New Zealand Music Month, so expect to hear Poi E on mainstream radio. But where will you hear Tangaroa Whakamautai from Maisey Rika, Kiwi by Tama Waipara, or Purerehua from Anna Coddington? The guest on Kia Korero Mai on Sunday is Ngahiwi Apanui, a founder member of Aotearoa, one of the first of the modern Maori bands that made a point of writing and performing songs in te reo Maori. He's now a member of Te Puatatangi / Toi Maori and the NZ Music Commission. He's asking where Maori music fits in to New Zealand Music Month.
