Unveiling a brand new season for 2014, Footnote New Zealand Dance presents NOW - a showcase of homegrown talent. Same time: same place. Right NOW
NOW is season of new original works divided into three different performances from choreographers Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad, Craig Bary, and Lyne Pringle. These pieces feature music by renowned New Zealand musicians including Gareth Farr and Nigel Collins, as well as tracks from Brazil, USA and Europe.

Low is choreographed by Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad, who returned from Minnesota, USA to make the work in Wellington. It is the story of the body’s experience. Low is a visceral ride: a fully engaged physicality beginning in our organs and bones. Low is how we meet the world.

Thin Air, choreographed by Wellingtonian Lyne Pringle is where things vanish, where magic is conjured, where thoughts arise – the precarious global layer that keeps us alive.

Depends on You by Sydney-based award winning choreographer Craig Bary is a modified excerpt from Footnote’s 2014 sell-out season of Straight Laced. Depends on You is a small glimpse into one world of sex and sexuality.

Footnote General Manager Richard Aindow states “Footnote New Zealand Dance is incredibly excited to be bringing our first ever NOW season to Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch. We are really looking forward to performing in new venues, particularly in Christchurch where we will present the first dance show ever seen in the Cardboard Cathedral. Added into the mix we have two new dancers and three new original works from New Zealand choreographers based in the USA, Australia and here in Wellington. NOW is essential viewing for all interested in dance, and a fascinating introduction for those experiencing it live for the first time.”
