The Edge’s Jay-Jay Feeney, Mike Puru and Dom Harvey were celebrated as best-in-class, winning the inaugural Sir Paul Holmes Broadcaster of the Year award, Best Music Breakfast Show - Metropolitan, and ‘The Blackie’, awarded in memory of Kevin Black for a ‘golden moment’ in Radio.
The Rock’s Jono Pryor and Robert Taylor were named Best Music non-Breakfast hosts - Metropolitan, and therock.net.nz also retained the Best Radio Website Award, a category it has won every year.
Hilary Barry was named Best Newsreader, and her RadioLIVE colleague, Lloyd Barr took home the award for Best New Broadcaster – Journalist.
MediaWorks strength in Local Radio was evident with The Breeze Wellington awarded Station of the Year – Surveyed Market, and More FM Taupo winning Station of the Year – Non-Surveyed Market.
More FM also took home Best Music Breakfast Show – Regional (Mike West, Gareth Pringle and Renee Pink, More FM Manawatu); Best Music Non-Breakfast Host – Regional (Blair Kiddey, More FM Nelson); and Best Music Host – Provincial (Andrew Leiataua, More FM Taupo), and Extended Community Campaign or Contribution (More FM Dunedin). Renee Pink was named Best New Broadcaster – On Air Personality.
A clean sweep of the Sales awards saw MediaWorks Auckland named Metropolitan Sales Team of the Year, and MediaWorks Tauranga win Regional or Provincial Sales Team of the Year. The Edge won Best Client Digital Promotion, Best Direct Client Campaign, and Best Station Digital Promotion, and The Rock was awarded Best Single Commercial, best Promotional Trailer and Best Station Imaging.
