Rotary International President Elect visiting Auckland

Rotary International President Elect Gary Huang visiting Auckland to support charter of new multilingual Rotary club.

It is a great honour that Gary C K Huang Rotary International President Elect RIPE) is visiting Auckland to officially charter the new multilingual Rotary Club of Auckland South.


This new club is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Auckland Harbourside.

RIPE Gary will provide his strategic vision and present the new charter to this innovative club (speakers of Mandarin, Cantonese and English). New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has been invited to attend Huang’s visit includes a traditional tree planting ceremony in the Auckland Domain with the Mayor of Auckland Len Brown on 20 May (Tuesday morning).

This tradition has been experienced by many past International presidents including the 1905 founder of Rotary – Paul Harris.

Huang and wife Corinna will the experience the beauty of our Auckland Harbour in transit to the Motutapu Island to view the Rotary Trail Project (an environmentally important project undertaken by Rotary Newmarket).

Huang, a member of the Rotary Club of Taipei, Taiwan .Huang says his vision for Rotary is to increase membership to more than 1.3 million.

"To increase our membership, we must go beyond borders to wherever we see growth potential, such as the countries of China, Mongolia, and Vietnam. I will put an emphasis on increasing female and younger members," Huang says. "I will also encourage former Rotarians to once again be part of our Rotary family."

Huang has served as the chair of Taiwan Sogo Shinkong Security Co., Ltd., Shin Kong Life Real Estate Service Co., and P.S. Insurance Agency, Inc. and director of Federal Corporation and managing director of Taipei Life-Line Association.

Huang created 19 new clubs in 1986-87 as governor of District 345, which included Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

Huang and his wife, Corinna Yao, have three children.
