High Tea at the Academy Galleries for Mother's Day
Home Sweet Home is an exhibition featuring work from the following artists and designers; Rachel Carter, David Hakaraia, Katherine Morrison, Linda Lee, Genevieve Packer, Dilana Rugs [rugs designed by Darryn George, Chiara Corbelletto and Tim Main], Katherine Smyth, Design Tree and Tim Wigmore. The exhibition showcases lighting, furniture, photography, textiles and ceramics.
Also showing at the Academy Galleries is Quarter Acre: An exhibition from the artists of the Academy that focuses on the urban landscape. The quarter acre dream has shifted over the last decade with a higher demand for space in growing cities. This exhibition aims to highlight the change in how communities utilise urban space in their everyday lives. Featuring work from: Mike Aamodt, Merle Bishop, Anneke Borren, Ann Breen, Beryl Buchanan, Greg Chaston, Di Conway, Maxine Edwards, Mia Hamilton, Paul Hardy, Ellen Hodgetts, Alan Hodgetts, Fraser Hoffe, William Hunt, Simon Jay, Rosalie Jurczenko, Hannah Kidd, Janice Kingston, Sue Lund, Sheila Playford, Lee Robinson, Vivian Rodriguez, Jane Santos, Sarah-Jane Smith, Mal Sole, Gloria Young and Mary Zohrab.
The Academy Galleries is hosting a High Tea this Sunday for Mother’s Day 2 pm to celebrate the opening of both exhibitions. Home Sweet Home and Quarter Acre can be viewed at Academy Galleries, 1 Queens Wharf, Wellington, 10 am – 5 pm.
