Tropfest NZ Announces Major Cash Prize for 2015 Winner
Tropfest New Zealand is actively encouraging the next generation of New Zealand filmmaking talent by increasing its
First Prize package with a take home cash prize of $10,000.
First Priz also includes a 5-day film immersion course in Los Angeles, where the winner will meet with film executives
and key industry figures. The trip includes return flights, five nights’ accommodation and $500 spending money, thanks
to the continuing sponsorship of the Motion Picture Association and the NZ Screen Association.
“By winning Tropfest NZ, one lucky New Zealand filmmaker will get a major cash injection as well as an incredible
opportunity to expand their contacts with international film industry professionals,” said TAFT CEO Suzanne Porter.
“Tropfest looks for great stories, told well, and any filmmaker, regardless of experience or background has the
opportunity to be a part of the competition.
We’re encouraging all NZ filmmakers to get out there and start making their entries!”
Now in its third year of competition, Tropfest NZ provides sixteen talented filmmakers with the chance to kick start
their careers. Past finalists have gone on to international festival success in North America and Europe.
The entry criteria for Tropfest NZ are simple:
Films must be 7 minutes or less, and must include the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) for 2015, which is WIRE. The TSI can
be included in any way the filmmaker chooses.
Submitted films must have their worldwide premiere (including online) at Tropfest NZ.
The entry deadline for submissions is 5PM Monday 1 December 2014.
Tropfest NZ 2015 will be held at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands on Saturday 14 February 2015.
