Mother’s Day concert at Highwic
A special Mother’s Day concert at Highwic – the Heritage New Zealand property in Newmarket – will feature a programme of live music guaranteed to be every mum’s cup of tea.
‘Harps and Flowers for Mother’s Day’ – compered by Cathie Harrop – will feature young musicians including singers, cellos, a pianist, a clarinettist and – of course – harpists.
“The variety concert will be all about nostalgia and laughter, and will take place on May 11 at 3.30pm in Highwic’s beautiful Ballroom,” says the Manager of Highwic, Cheryl Laurie.
“Concert-goers can enjoy a glass of wine or fruit juice before the concert, and take the opportunity to explore Highwic, which has recently undergone significant conservation work both inside and outside. People can then settle into a comfortable chair and enjoy a varied and relaxing concert of beautiful Sunday afternoon music.”
Performers include harpists Louise Andrew and Olivia Kyle of the Aotea Youth Symphony, as well as Amanda Kirk and Chloe Irwin-Whitney who are known throughout Auckland for their special duet singing together.
Singers Alice Compton and Nikki Silk will also take part joining cellists Jennie Khan and Jason Moss, clarinetist Finn McLennan-Elliot and pianist extraordinaire, William Green.
“The young musicians playing at the concert are all seasoned performers, and the quality of their music is wonderful,” says Cheryl.
“’Harps and Flowers’ is a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day, and with refreshments and a tour of Highwic built into the ticket price, it’s also great value.”
Don’t miss ‘Harps and Flowers’ – May 11, 3.30pm. Admission - $25 per adult (includes Heritage New Zealand members – no concessions). To book tickets phone 09-479-2361 or emailconcert@vodafone.co.nz
