Seeds of Orbit ride again
The critically-acclaimed Seeds of Orbit listened to the people’s pleas for a mighty homegrown psychedelic band – and boy, have they answered them. Following the release of their self-titled EP and a blistering live performance with the Psychic Maps, they've given everyone's ears and minds long enough to recover from their release party, and are back for Round 2 of their sonic takeover plans.
Something of a supergroup, this three-piece has a deep love for heavy mod, stoner rock and acid folk. Made up of Mark Petersound (aka Mark Petersen – Straitjacket Fits, Cabbage Bomber, Shaft), Bridgette Bowie (The Doris Days, Cabbage Bomber and legendary all-girl punk band Fake Purr), and Marty Doo (NZ: The Beads; Australia: Glide, Challenger 7, Scruffs, Grapefruit),their mind-alteringly psychedelic debut EP ‘Seeds of Orbit’ was recently released on Powertool Records.
The Seeds play 3 shows in the next few weeks:
This Saturday May 3 - Galatos, Auckland with Husk
Saturday May 17th - Dogs Bollix with the Psychs and The Lowest Fidelity
Friday June 6th - Lucha Lounge with the Roulettes
Here are some great reviews:
James Belfield - Sunday News - CD of the Week
“Homegrown three-piece Seeds of Orbit have smashed out their debut psychedelic rocker EP. The five tracks take Deep Purple, Led Zep and Jefferson Airplane influences and grind them through a modern stoner-rock kaleidoscope. . . And there's no doubting that this is no loose stoner session, these pros have been at it too long to throw away the chance to resurrect great sounds of the 60s and 70s while also paying due deference to the likes of Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age. The five tracks find their sleazy groove early on with Make Up of Moments, which quickly slides from flowerpower pop into a great fuzzed up riff . . . but by the time I Stoner wraps up with its hard- guitar blast, you're begging for a full-length set.”

"I'd like to turn your attention too, to Seeds of Orbit. This New Zealand band's debut self-titled EP will have you nodding along whether you're normally at the Deep Purple or Tame Impala ends of the almost-psychedelic rock spectrum. And in fact for all the people anywhere in between. It' s a wee ripper."
